Course Overview

This course provides Cisco’s Introduction to Cybersecurity followed by a deeper dive into Cybersecurity Essentials.
You’ll Learn These Core Skills
The Introduction to Cybersecurity chapters will:
- Define cybersecurity;
- Explain why it’s important;
- Elaborate on the impact of cyber-attacks; and
- Introduce the processes used to secure data.
- The Cybersecurity Essentials program will teach participants cybersecurity core skills in cyber threat management, including how to:
- Develop foundational knowledge that you could use in the workplace as a Junior Cybersecurity Analyst.
- This course explores governance in cybersecurity and threat management.
- Learn to develop policies and ensure your organization complies with ethics standards and legal and regulatory frameworks.
- Gain skills for managing threats, such as how to assess a network for vulnerabilities, manage risks, and respond to security incidents.
Certificate:
Upon successful completion of the program, participants receive a Certificate in the form of a digital credential that provides independent validation of their achievement.
Key Components of the NSITE Cybersecurity Foundations Program
Our accessible Cisco Cybersecurity program has been adapted for the different learning styles of individuals who are blind or visually impaired and offers the following:
- Self-paced completion with assisted virtual instruction for the first online Cisco course during the first two weeks of the program.
- Virtual instructor-led training covering the second online Cisco course facilitated by a highly experienced Cisco-certified instructor for the remaining weeks; with the final week fully self-paced for personal wrap-up and completion of assignments and exams. Time Commitment: Six hours a week for 6-8 weeks; Tuesdays & Thursdays, 6-9pm EDT. Completion of labs and assignments every week with an expected time commitment of up to 4-6 hours per week.
